Cut the avocado in half, remove and discard the pit then scoop out the inside. Place the avocado flesh in the food processor or blender and purée until smooth using a small about of water, breast milk or formula. As the baby develops you may use a fork to mash the avocado. *Lemon zest, cilantro, garlic or onion powder.
FAMILY RECIPE: Shrimp with Avocado, Mango & Black Bean Salad
Protein: Shrimp or Chicken
2 Each Avocado, sliced
1 Each Mango diced
3 C Cooked Black Beans
1 Tbsp. chiffonade Cilantro
2 C Sliced Red Onion
2 ea. Lime Supremes and juice saved
1 # Cooked Shrimp
Method of Preparation:
Small amounts of spices and herbs that can be added as the baby matures. Freeze leftover baby food in ice cube trays and transfer to Ziploc bags when done. The cubes can be reused for future feedings, smoothies for the family or in baked goods such as muffins, cookies, pancakes and breads. They can also be added to meatballs, hamburger patties, and meatloaves or used in dipping sauces. Freeze purée in small popsicle trays and use as teething devices or place purée in reusable squeeze pouches when the baby matures and develops the coordination and strength to feed himself.
